Openalex search
An MCP tool from the Public Knowledge server, hosted on mcp.hjlabs.in.
Search OpenAlex, an open index of 250M+ scholarly works: title, authors with institutions, venue, year, citations, open-access PDF when there is one, concepts, and the abstract. Filters: year range, open access only. Sort by relevance, citations or date.
Name on the gateway: knowledge__openalex_search · read-only.

open_access | boolean | Only works with a free full text. |
sort | relevance | cited_by_count | publication_date | Order. Default relevance. |
limit | integer | Results (default 10, max 50). |
How to call it
Through the Smart Gateway, any client can run it by name with call_tool, or let the gateway find it with search_tools:
