Format json

An MCP tool from the Developer Toolbox server, hosted on mcp.hjlabs.in.

Validate a JSON document and return it formatted or minified. On failure, reports the parser error including the offset of the problem.

Name on the gateway: devtools__format_json · read-only.

Parameters

Name	Type	Description
`json` required	`string`	The JSON document as a string.
`indent`	`number`	Spaces of indentation, 0-8. Default 2.
`minify`	`boolean`	Return the smallest valid form instead of formatting.

Through the Smart Gateway, any client can run it by name with call_tool, or let the gateway find it with search_tools:
