Questions
Will this hit my client's tool limit?
No. Clients and models cap how many tools they can load, often around 128, and each listed tool costs context on every turn. The Smart Gateway lists three. Your assistant describes what it needs and gets back the best matches, from however many tools sit behind it.
Can it pick the tool by itself?
Yes, within limits. use_tool runs a tool on its own only if the match is clear, the tool only reads data, and the required arguments are there. Otherwise nothing runs and your assistant gets the candidates to choose from, so a vague request can never trigger a delete.
Can I add my own MCP servers?
Yes. Add any remote MCP server from your dashboard and its tools join your search. Only your account can see them. Credentials are encrypted, and they are never shown again or sent anywhere except that server.
What counts towards the daily limit?
Each tool that runs counts as one. Connecting, listing and searching for tools do not. The count resets at 00:00 UTC.
What happens when I reach the limit?
Tool calls return a clear message your assistant can read and pass on, until the limit resets. Nothing is charged: there is no card on file.
Do you see what my assistant does?
We count calls per server. We do not log tool arguments, results or searches, and URLs passed to Fetch are not stored. The Memory server stores what your assistant asks it to remember, because that is its job, and you can delete all of it. Details.
Does it work with claude.ai or ChatGPT connectors?
Yes. Those cannot send a header, so use the connector URL from the "claude.ai / ChatGPT" tab: your key is part of the URL (/k/your-key/hub). Add it as a custom connector with no authentication. Treat the URL as a secret; revoking the key in the dashboard cuts it off.
